This month, we are honouring Džansver Dalipova, known as the Queen of Romani music here on the Balkans. She passed away recently, in August 2026, and after dedicating and drawing inspiration for our 3 September articles from her songs, we are now going to close off the month with an incredible masterpiece.
Kemano baśal e Romenge is a beautiful song that not only calls for unity among the Roma with poverful and poetic language, but it is also very, very difficult to sing. The song requires incredible technique, but as you will find for yourself, Džansever makes it seem easy.
The song is captivating even if you don’t understand the lyrics, and it has become one of the many beloved Romani songs outside of Romani circles, with non-Roma singers also trying to perform it as a demonstration of skill and talent.
