A song about a family without a father, which was, ironically, remade in Bulgarian in the 90s and became a classic hit with comedic lyrics, while the poetry of the less-known original Roma lyrics is full of heartbreak and sorrow. In so many Romani families, the men go abroad to work, paying for the higher income they send back home with backbreaking labor, loneliness, and their health: a reality encapsulated here from the perspective of the child who had to grow up without a father.
